Overheard a junior drafter call AutoCAD 'old school' and it hit me different

I was at a coffee shop near my shop and heard two younger guys talking about how they only use Revit and BIM now, calling AutoCAD a dinosaur tool. Made me think back to when I started drafting in 2008 and how I learned everything on a physical board before even touching a computer. Not saying one is better, but there's something to be said for knowing the fundamentals that got us here. Has anyone else noticed the newer guys skipping the basics and jumping straight into the advanced software?

Did their actual drawings look better though?

Honestly, when you say "their actual drawings," do you mean like the rough sketches or the finished pieces they posted online? Tbh, I've seen some Instagram artists who do these insane polished digital pieces but their sketchbooks look like chicken scratch, and vice versa. Ngl, it's a good question because sometimes having a polished final version actually hides mistakes. Were you thinking of a specific style or artist when you asked that?
