That call with a former brand rep made me rethink who I trust

I was on the phone with a girl I used to follow who got dropped by a big skincare brand last fall. She told me the brand paid for fake reviews and staged a lot of the "drama" between other influencers to keep engagement up. She gave me exact screenshots and dates, like the one from October 12th where two creators fought over a lipstick shade that was clearly planned. It hit different because I'd been defending one of those creators for months in threads. Has anyone else gotten direct proof that some influencer feud was staged the whole time, and did it change how you watch them?

Wait, that fitness account story sounds off. She couldn't have been paid to fake surgery scars if she already had real stretch marks. That would mean the surgery thing was the lie, not the other way around. @bettyfox you probably meant she was paid to pretend her real stretch marks were from surgery, right? Either way it's messed up. People twist everything for a check these days.

October 12th was actually the day I searched for that lipstick shade because I was curious, and now I feel kind of silly about it. I had a similar moment with a fitness account I followed for years, turns out she was paid to say her stretch marks were fake surgery scars when they weren't. It really does make you second guess every like and comment after that.
