I was wrong about keeping to myself on the job site

Used to think my business was just running the dredge and that was it... didn't need to chit-chat. But then this old-timer from the marina next door kept waving me down, and I finally listened. He pointed out a sandbar shift that wasn't on any of our charts... would've grounded us for sure. Now I make a point to say hello to the folks nearby, ask if they've seen anything odd. That five-minute talk saved us a huge headache and maybe some gear. Honestly... it's way better than working in a bubble.

Last summer on a dredging project in Mobile Bay, the crew next to us was always chatting and they overlooked a leak. I keep my head down and focus on my gear checks. Have you ever found that less talk actually means fewer mistakes?

Talkative crews sometimes miss things, but our quiet bunch once towed a barge right past our marked zone.

Heard a foreman say good crews balance talk and focus, like @quinn_barnes6 said.
