Rant: Why I now swear by daily alarm checks on the dredge

I always figured backup beeps on the dredge were just extra noise. Then a greenhand almost stepped into the cutter path, and the beep made him freeze. That little alert stopped a bad day before it happened. Now I check every alarm each morning.
