Messed up a weld on my trailer hitch last weekend, had to redo the whole thing

Buddy of mine fixed his boat trailer with a cheap harbor freight welder, looked okay until he hit the highway and the whole thing snapped like a twig. Had to get towed twenty miles back to town and the hitch ended up costing more than the boat repair. He swore off budget welders after that, said you gotta overbuild or you're just asking for trouble.

Yeah overbuilding is the way to go. I always add an extra pass on anything tow-related just so I don't have that panic moment on the highway. Better safe than sorry with that stuff.

200 bucks on a harbor freight welder saved my bacon on a dirt bike trailer a few years back. lmao if you weld it right with decent prep it holds fine on the highway. half the time people snap stuff cause they rush the weld or skip cleaning the rust off.
