My garage workbench after one winter in Edmonton
I built a workbench out of 2x4s last October and by March the top had warped nearly a full inch from the humidity swings. Has anyone else had trouble keeping their DIY projects straight through our freeze-thaw cycles?

Nearly a full inch from humidity swings" sounds like the wood wasn't dry enough when you built it. Kiln dried lumber from the big box stores still has a lot of moisture in it sometimes. I let my 2x4s sit in my garage for a few weeks before building and never had that kind of warping.

My buddy built a desk from big box store oak boards last summer. He let them sit in his shop for a couple weeks, but not long enough I guess. About a month after the weather turned humid, the top bowed up on one side and split right down the middle. He had to scrap the whole thing and start over with properly dried lumber from a local mill. Made a believer out of him, that's for sure.
