TIL about the free wood pile behind the Reuse Centre
I was dropping off old electronics at the Edmonton Reuse Centre on the north side last weekend and noticed they have a huge pile of scrap lumber out back. Free for the taking, just bring your own truck. Has anyone else used that for small projects?

Funny how the city tosses out perfectly good wood while lumber prices keep climbing.

Man, tell me about it. I walked past a dumpster the other day and saw a whole stack of 2x4s just sitting there, perfectly straight. Meanwhile I'm over here buying a single piece of plywood that costs more than my first car. I'm starting to think I should quit my day job and just become a professional dumpster diver for lumber. My deck could've been made of "trash wood" and it would've saved me a mortgage payment.
