Checked out an old theater in Cleveland and the backstage wiring was a real mess

They had extension cords running through water from a leaky pipe, and the whole panel looked like it was from the 1960s. Has anyone else run into this kind of thing in a public building?

Yeah, that old panel and the cords in water is a classic find. I saw something similar in a community hall once. We got a local electrician to do a basic safety check first, just to see what absolutely had to be fixed right away. Then we started a small fundraiser specifically for upgrading the worst outlets and fixing a leak. It wasn't a full rewire, but it got the place safe enough to use while they planned the big fix.

Totally! That's a smart way to handle it. We did the same thing at my old church, just fixing the urgent stuff first. It really does buy you time to sort out the bigger job.
