Had to choose between a 10-foot ladder or a milk crate for a ceiling fan job

The attic access was tight, so I went with the crate. Let's just say balancing a fan box on it was a bad call, and I ended up with drywall dust in my hair for a week. Anyone have a better trick for cramped spaces?

That "drywall dust in my hair for a week" is the real price of a bad shortcut. I see this everywhere, people rushing with the wrong tool because the right one is a pain to get. It always costs more time in the end cleaning up the mess.

Ugh, that sounds rough. Honestly, a small step stool is worth its weight in gold for stuff like that. Way more stable than a crate.
