I finally stopped using those cheap $9 soldering irons

Used to grab the basic Weller 25W from the hardware store for every board repair for like 5 years, blew through tips every 3 months. Last week after failing to reflow a PS4 HDMI port for the third time, I borrowed a buddy's Hakko FX-888D and got it done in 20 minutes flat. Anyone else hold onto a budget tool way longer than they should have just because it was 'good enough'?

My cheap iron has seen better days too, still burns my desk sometimes.

Fixing PS4 HDMI ports with a clunky iron is pure misery.
