Threw away $60 on a cheap soldering station last month
Bought one of those no-name 60W stations off Amazon for $60 figuring it would be fine for occasional use. The tip temperature was all over the place, like 100 degrees off from what I set it to. Fried two PCB pads on a keyboard repair before I wised up and just bought a Hakko FX-888D. Should have listened to the guy in the forum who said to skip the cheap stuff. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way?

Did you check if that cheap station is actually earthed or not?

Did you end up getting a refund @hall.nina? I learned that lesson the hard way too.
