Went to fix a VCR last week and the guy thought I was joking
A customer brought in an old VCR from 1989 last Tuesday, wanted me to get it working for his kid's school project on 'retro media.' I had to remind him that I still keep a head cleaner and a multimeter on hand for exactly these jobs. Anyone else still getting calls for fixing tape decks?

My 1985 Sony Betamax still gets a monthly cleaning. Found that using 99% isopropyl alcohol on rubber pinch rollers beats any store-bought cleaner. That thing plays perfect now, no jams or squeaks.

Heard rubbing alcohol can dry out some older rubber parts over time though, be careful.
