Why does nobody talk about how friends watching can lead to broken parts?

I was swapping a phone screen with my buddy leaning over my shoulder. He bumped the table and I cracked the new display. What do you say to stop people from crowding your work area?

Leaning over my shoulder" is the worst. I used to let people hang around until someone dropped a screw into a laptop fan. Now I just say "back up, you're in the drop zone" and point at a chair across the room.

Server hardware is built to handle way worse than a little coffee splash. Most racks have drip shields, and the real danger is usually power supplies or open ports. Unless they poured a full carafe directly into the fan array, it was probably just a tense moment that didn't actually break anything.
