Had coffee with a client who said they only measure event success by attendee smiles, not just lead scans...

My old boss used to track post-event survey scores like they were gold. He found the happy attendees were the ones who actually remembered our brand six months later. It made me question what we were really counting.

Honestly, how many of those scanned leads ever actually buy anything? My last company was obsessed with badge swipes, and half of them were just people grabbing free pens. Tbh I'd rather have ten people leave smiling and telling their friends than a hundred dead leads in a spreadsheet. Makes me wonder if we're all just measuring the wrong thing to make ourselves feel better.

Read a study once that said something like 70% of trade show leads don't get followed up on anyway. @margaret_gonzalez25 makes a good point about people actually remembering you. Better to have a few people who actually care than a pile of business cards nobody calls.
