My old boss told me to cut the budget for pre-event email blasts by 50%.
We did it for a conference in Miami and our check-in line was a mess for the first two hours. Anyone have a good rule for how much to spend on reminders versus new outreach?

Cutting reminders is like skipping the save button.

But is it really that big a deal?

Honestly, that Miami line sounds brutal. Reminds me of a trade show where we skimped on the pre-event map emails. People got lost between halls, missed sessions, and the feedback was a nightmare. It's like, you spend all this money on the event itself but then choke on the last mile communication. For us now, reminders are a fixed cost, like renting chairs. You just don't cut it. New outreach gets whatever's left in the pot after that's covered.
