That 'Distracted Boyfriend' meme finally clicked for me after I saw it in real life

I was at a Target in Phoenix last Saturday, right? I see this guy with his girlfriend looking at kitchen stuff, and he keeps glancing over at this other woman checking out air fryers. His girlfriend was super annoyed and I just stood there laughing because it was literally the meme in action. I finally get why that picture took off, it captures a specific human moment so perfectly. Has anyone else had a real life moment where a meme suddenly made sense like that?

Wait did @jana119 catch the burrito guy side-eyeing the food or the actual person holding it? lol That's the thing though, the real version is usually about food or something random, not just cheating vibes. I saw a dude at a coffee shop totally ignore his friend's story to stare at someone's pumpkin spice latte and it hit me that the meme works because we're all just easily distracted by dumb stuff.

Buddy of mine was at a Chipotle and saw a dude staring hard at another guy's burrito while his own girlfriend was mid-story. Said it was exactly that "distracted boyfriend" setup but with food instead of fashion.

Oh man, that burrito thing is too real. But actually the original meme isn't from a Target or Chipotle, the photo was from a Spanish stock photo shoot like ten years ago. The woman in the red dress was the model's actual girlfriend at the time, which makes it extra funny to me. I think the meme works because it's not really about cheating, it's about that split second where your brain just goes "ooo shiny" no matter what you're supposed to be focused on.
