That 'distracted boyfriend' meme finally clicked for me yesterday

I saw it like 50 times and thought it was just about bad relationships. Then my coworker explained it's about choosing a new thing over an old habit. Like I finally got why people use it for comparing tools or hobbies. Has anyone else had a meme take way too long to sink in?

Oh man, I read this thing on a blog about how our brains sometimes just don't make the connection until we see something in the right context. For me it was the "this is fine" dog meme. I kept seeing it and thought it was just about staying calm. Then someone pointed out the room is on fire and the dog is in denial. That hit me way harder once I realized it's about ignoring real problems. It definitely takes some memes a while to click, especially when you're not looking at the whole picture at first.
