Hitting 10,000 followers felt like a joke at first

I crossed 10,000 on my photography account last Tuesday and I thought the number had to be a glitch. It's a small niche - just local landscapes around Portland - so I never expected that many people to care. But then I realized half of them probably followed during a giveaway I ran in February. Has anyone else hit a milestone that felt completely fake until you looked closer at why?

10,000 followers and half of them just wanted a free lens cleaning kit or whatever you were giving away. I'd call that a win anyway, at least you got the fake internet points.

Keep telling myself they're loyal followers, not just people who wanted a free microfiber cloth. Works about as well as the cleaning kit.
