Saw a local bakery's TikTok get flooded with trolls after a simple mistake

They posted a video about a new cake flavor and spelled the main ingredient wrong in the caption. Within an hour, the comments were just people making fun of the spelling, not talking about the cake at all. Has anyone else seen a small business handle something like that well?

Actually saw a local coffee shop do this perfectly last month. They posted a specials board with a typo, and people were just roasting them in the comments. The owner jumped on and made a new video laughing at the mistake, then offered a discount code that was the misspelled word. It totally flipped the mood and got them a ton of supportive orders. They owned the goof and made it part of their brand story. Turning an attack into a playful win seems to be the move.

Depends if the owner's ego can take it.

That "playful win" strategy can backfire. In my experience, it only works if the trolls are just teasing. If the comments turn actually mean, trying to joke along can make a brand look out of touch. The real skill is telling the difference.
