That buddy who told me to 'just send it' on a kicker at the skatepark was dead wrong
My friend Jake kept saying I was overthinking a 3 foot gap jump at FDR Skatepark in Philly. Told me to stop hesitating and just commit. Took his advice last Saturday, cleared the gap but landed nose heavy and ate it hard on the concrete. Sprained my wrist and cracked my board in half, $60 down the drain. Jake laughed his ass off and said 'that's on you for listening to me.' Anyone else got a friend whose advice ended up costing you money or a trip to urgent care?

Used to say 'just send it' myself but that FDR landing changed my whole view.

Yeah that FDR landing is a real wake up call. I started doing a quick mental checklist before I say "just send it" now. Like, what's the risk if my approach goes wrong, do I have a clear bail point, and is this the kind of situation where patience wins out. It's easy to get caught up in the moment, but that landing showed me how fast a "send it" attitude can turn into a "why did I do that" moment.
