That viral glacier calving video is way too clean
I saw that clip everyone's sharing of a huge chunk of ice falling off a glacier in Iceland. Looked amazing at first. But I visited Jökulsárlón last fall and watched the real thing for 20 minutes. The water was way more churned up and there were smaller ice pieces everywhere. That viral one had perfectly clear water and one smooth chunk. Has anyone actually been there and seen the real deal?

Whoa, I never even thought about that angle. Maybe it's just me, but I bet part of the reason it looks so clean is because of how the video was shot and edited, not just the glacier itself. Like, they probably used a drone or a really high frame rate camera that smooths everything out and makes the water look glassier than it actually is. Plus, a lot of these viral clips get color graded to make the ice pop more and the water look unreal blue. So even if the real event is messy, the final product is polished to look perfect for clicks. I'd be curious if anyone checked the original file metadata to see if it was sped up or smoothed out.

Totally with you @gavin_hill27, I watched a similar glacier video and the color grading made it look like something from another planet.
