Serious question, has anyone else had a week where every single horse seemed to have a different kind of foot abscess?
Last week in Boise, I had three horses with abscesses in three days, one blew out the heel bulb, one was a classic toe abscess, and the third was a weird, deep seated one in the quarter that took two trims to even locate, which really tested my patience and my hoof knife skills.

Yeah, that "weird, deep seated one in the quarter" sounds like a nightmare. I was listening to a podcast with a vet who said these weird abscess clusters can sometimes be linked to big changes in ground moisture. If it went from super wet to hard and dry real fast, it can mess with hoof pressure and hide problems in strange spots. Makes the whole "problems in batches" idea feel pretty real. What was the ground like there before your bad week?

It's always something with these animals. Seems like problems come in batches, just like when my car needs three separate repairs in one month.
