Warning: I picked a Mustad 5 over a St. Croix for a big draft horse job last Tuesday.

The Mustad held up fine, but I'm still wondering if the extra flex in the St. Croix would've been better for that heavy foot. Anyone else have a strong preference for one over the other on big pulls?

Totally get that, I had the same debate last month. My Mustad felt a little stiff but it never gave an inch, so I can't complain lol. Sometimes you just need that brute strength over the fancy flex.

Man, I used to swear by that St. Croix flex for everything. Thought it was just better for the animal. But after seeing a couple buddies have issues on real tough pulls, I'm totally with you. The Mustad might not feel as fancy, but it just gets the job done without any drama. Stiff beats broken every single time.
