Saw a guy in Seattle wearing a jacket with a hidden, zippered sleeve pocket for his transit card

I was waiting for the bus in Capitol Hill and noticed this guy just tap his wrist on the reader instead of digging in his bag. The pocket was sewn into the jacket lining right above the cuff, totally invisible until he used it. Has anyone tried sewing something like this into their own designs?

I've added similar pockets to a few coats, and a simple zigzag stitch holds them just fine.

Did he have to modify the reader at all, or does it just work through the fabric?
