Showerthought: my plumber saw my kimchi setup and said 'that's just controlled rot, same as my job'

He was fixing a pipe under my sink yesterday and pointed at my bubbling jar, saying 'we both just manage decay so things don't go bad,' which made me see my whole hobby as less of a kitchen project and more like basic infrastructure maintenance.

Ever have a moment like that where it just clicks? My neighbor saw me fixing a fence post and said it was just like setting a bone for the yard. Totally changed how I see little repairs. Now when I tighten a wobbly chair leg or patch a crack in the driveway, I feel like I'm doing basic healthcare for my house. It turns chores into something way more satisfying.

My grandpa called oil changes "giving the car a glass of water," and @miles72 is right, it really does make simple fixes feel like important care.

Honestly, isn't that just putting a fancy name on a boring chore? Tbh, calling a fence post a "broken bone" feels like trying too hard to make yard work sound deep.
