He was fixing a pipe under my sink yesterday and pointed at my bubbling jar, saying 'we both just manage decay so things don't go bad,' which made me see my whole hobby as less of a kitchen project and more like basic infrastructure maintenance.

Ever have a moment like that where it just clicks? My neighbor saw me fixing a fence post and said it was just like setting a bone for the yard. Totally changed how I see little repairs.
