Damp basements are popping up all over my area

I started using a thicker plastic sheet under everything in these spaces. It seems to block dampness better than the standard stuff. What do you use for wet areas?

Thick rubber mats work better sometimes.

Have you tried the heavier 6 mil plastic sheeting? I mean, I lay that down with overlapping seams and tape them, and it's been way better at stopping moisture. Maybe it's just me but that extra thickness makes a real difference.

I get that thicker plastic seems better, but I found 6 mil can have issues. The seams came loose after a while, even with tape. Water still seeped in at the corners. My neighbor used a lighter sheet with a dirt cover and it stayed dry. How you put it down matters more than how thick it is.
