Just realized my biggest wedding flower mistake was trusting a 'cool' vase
I had a huge wedding in Portland last Saturday, and the centerpieces were these tall, modern vases the bride picked. They looked great in the shop, but I didn't think about the weight distribution. We set them up, and about an hour before the ceremony, one just tipped over on the head table. Water and white roses went everywhere, right onto the seating chart. My heart dropped. I had to send my assistant running to the nearest grocery store for more white roses while I sopped up water with my own jacket. We fixed it, but I was sweating the whole night waiting for another to go. Has anyone else had a vase style totally backfire on them? What do you look for to make sure they're stable?

Honestly, that's the risk with a lot of modern design, isn't it? Form over function. I've seen it with wobbly side tables and those shallow, wide kitchen sinks that splash everything. A heavy base is non-negotiable for anything tall, but you never really test it until it's full of water and flowers, which is the worst time to find out.

Ever think to check the table wobble first?

Wait you actually fill those tall vases all the way up? I always stop halfway because I'm scared of a spill. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
