A cracked crucible cost us a whole day's work - old gear or rushed setup?
Some guys say we should replace all old equipment to avoid this. Others think rushing the prep is the real problem. How do you prevent similar messes?

Ugh, that's brutal. Old gear cracks under heat stress way more often, that's just physics. Always check your equipment before a big run.

Saw a guy's backpack strap snap clean off on a trail last year, just popped like cheap thread. Was one of those fancy outdoor brands too, but the plastic buckle had gotten brittle sitting in his garage. He had to MacGyver it with a carabiner and some paracord for the whole hike back.

That's crazy because you expect cheap stuff to fail, not the fancy brands. The plastic just goes brittle sitting around? So a perfectly good pack becomes totally useless from just being stored wrong. Makes you wonder about all that gear sitting in closets right now.
