Caught between a quota and a hot mold yesterday, and it got me thinking.

On one hand, rushing a pour can lead to defects and burn risks for the crew. But pushing back might mean lost hours or even layoffs if orders slip. How do you handle that pressure?

Wait, burn risks? That's a serious safety problem, not just a production hitch. If the mold is hot enough to burn someone, rushing the pour is downright dangerous. I can't believe any crew would be put in that position for a quota. Pushing back might cost hours, but getting burned costs a lot more. That kind of pressure should never come at the expense of basic safety.

Unbelievable they'd risk burns just to meet a quota!

Ever hear about that warehouse where they rushed to clear inventory before a holiday? They told the night crew to ignore pallet weight limits to stack higher. One overloaded rack buckled and took out a sprinkler line, flooding the shipping area. The clean up and delays cost way more than just moving slower would have. Manager got chewed out for putting speed over basic sense. Sometimes the fast way just makes a bigger mess.
