Choosing between a dry sand mix and a green sand mix for a small bronze casting
I had to pick one for a custom gear pattern last week and went with dry sand for its better detail. It held the sharp edges on the teeth really well but took longer to set up. What mix do you guys like for small, detailed pieces?

Ever tried green sand with a finer grain? I get way more detail with it and it's faster to ram up.

Totally agree, the fine stuff is a game changer for small patterns. I mean, it just packs in so much tighter without needing to hammer it forever.

Nah, green sand all day. That dry mix is such a pain to work with for tiny stuff. The extra setup time kills my flow. A good fine green sand mix gives me plenty of detail without the hassle. It's just way faster to get a mold ready to pour. I'd only switch to dry sand for something huge and simple.
