I finally switched from a basic checking account to a business one for my freelance income

Kept everything in my personal account for years. The business account's separate transaction history saved me 3 hours during tax prep last week. Anyone else make a switch that simplified their bookkeeping?

How long did it take you to finally make the jump? I did the same thing after mixing everything for two years and it was a nightmare. Having that separate account means you never have to dig through personal groceries or your phone bill to find a client payment. It makes every single expense clear at a glance. My only regret is not doing it from day one.

Opening a separate account was the best move I made. It turns a messy pile of statements into clear records for my accountant. That simple split saves me a headache every single quarter.

Sounds like extra work for no real gain.
