Tried using a cheap 9mm graphite paddle from the hardware store versus a proper marver from a glass shop.

But what if the grit is part of the process? I've used a cheap marver for years. Those black marks just wipe off with a damp rag after it cools. The slight texture from a cheaper block can actually give you more control on a gather, like a subtle grip. Sometimes the perfect, slick surface makes things move too fast when you're learning.

I had to choose between a full removal and a risky crown reduction on a huge oak

Actually read a study from a university extension service about this. They said the follow up pruning in years two and three is what makes or breaks a crown reduction. Without it, you just get a bunch of weak, fast growing water sprouts right back into the wires.

Serious question, why do people keep mixing up the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing with a different event?

Honestly, my buddy was trying to explain the whole thing to his kid last year and totally flipped the dates. He was so sure they happened back to back because one news story he watched as a teen linked them together. Tbh it took him finding an old newspaper clipping at a garage sale to finally see the two year gap. He felt pretty silly but it shows how one wrong fact can stick in your head forever.

The 'viral' sound I spent a week editing got 47 views

Remember spending a whole weekend building a giant blanket fort just to film a dumb skit with my dog. The lighting was perfect, I edited in funny captions, the whole deal. It got maybe twelve views, and my mom was half of them. It really does feel random sometimes, like what @dylanmurray said about his recipe. You can pour your heart into something and the internet just shrugs, but a cat does one dumb thing and it's global news.

Just saw a singer post a 3am rant then delete it an hour later

Tagging the corporate account is the kind of 3am mistake I would absolutely make.
