I thought those magnetic parts trays were a waste of money until my third dropped bolt

Kept knocking over my old plastic tray and losing small screws under the workbench. Grabbed a cheap magnetic one on a whim and it's stuck to the side of my toolbox ever since, holding everything in place. Anyone have a better spot to stick theirs besides the toolbox?

I read a tip online about sticking one right to the side of a metal shelf leg near the work area. That way it's always at hand but not taking up space on the bench itself. I've also seen people mount a small steel plate under their workbench and then just slap the tray onto that. It keeps it off the main surface but still in a useful spot. Honestly, as long as it's on something metal and not in the way, you're winning.

What about sticking it to the leg of your workbench? I put mine low down on the front leg, so it's out of the way of my feet but I can still reach it without bending over. It keeps the bench top clear for the actual project.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I magnetized a whole wrench by accident!
