Stopped trying to decode every #BookTok trend and finally enjoyed reading again
I got so caught up trying to read every single book that went viral on that tag that my nightstand looked like a bookstore threw up. I was forcing myself through genres I hated just to be part of the chat. Finally quit that habit last month and just picked books I actually like. Now my reading list is shorter, but I'm finishing books and having way more fun.
My friend did that last year. She had a whole shelf of unread bestsellers from that app. Felt bad for not starting them. Finally gave all the fancy hardcovers to a library sale. Now she just grabs paperbacks from the little free library down the street. Says she hasn't enjoyed reading this much since high school.
My cousin in Portland did something similar with her cookbooks. She had over twenty fancy ones she never used, all bought on sale. Donated them to a community center and now she just checks out one at a time from the library. Says it's way less stress and she actually tries the recipes.
