Trying to jot down a poem on a train in Italy got me some strange looks
I was on a regional train from Florence, scribbling what I thought was a deep poem about the rolling hills. A fellow passenger leaned over and asked if I was drawing a map because my handwriting was so messy. Have you ever had your artistic moment totally misunderstood while you were on the road?

I mean, calling your poem a map is just bizarre.

Emily Dickinson called hope a thing with feathers. If a feeling can be a bird, why can't a poem be a map? It's just lines that show you how to get from one feeling to another. The words are the directions. What's so strange about that?
