Showerthought: Not correcting a mistake that benefits you

I saw my bill was undercharged for a repair. Keeping quiet felt easy, but it messed with my head all week. Now I get how guilt can shape choices even without anyone knowing.

What's up with guilt sticking to small wins? I see it when people stay quiet about a wrong order in their favor. Makes you realize how much we police ourselves.

Ever wonder why guilt hits even when no one's watching?

Man, @charlesm11, you really nailed it. I've caught myself feeling bad for eating the last slice of pizza alone, like I broke some secret rule. Or when I pretend to be sick to skip a chore, and even though nobody knows, I still feel kinda lousy. It's like our own minds are keeping track of every little slip-up. That guilt is just us holding ourselves to our own standards, even in private. Makes you wonder why we can't just let stuff go sometimes.
