I finally got my van's electrical system to stop tripping breakers

My lights would flicker every time I used the microwave. I redid all the wire connections with proper crimps, and now it runs smooth. What was your last win with van wiring?

My buddy's fridge kept cutting out on him, and it turned out to be a lousy connection right at the fuse block itself. He cleaned the contacts and tightened the terminals, which was a much easier fix than running a whole new wire. The fridge has been solid ever since.

Glad to hear you got your system sorted. Proper crimps are a good start, but in a moving vehicle, those connections can shake loose over time. I always add a bit of solder after crimping for extra hold. My last win was tracing a ground fault to a rusty bolt under the chassis. Cleaning that up made all my 12V accessories work like new.

Ever worry the heat from soldering might make the wire stiff and more likely to break from vibration? I always use adhesive lined heat shrink over my crimps instead, it seals out moisture and locks everything in place without that risk. Your ground fault story hits home, spent a whole weekend chasing a gremlin that turned out to be a rusted strap where the battery tray met the frame. What do you use to protect cleaned up grounds from getting rusty again?
