I saw a guy in Portland wearing a jacket made from old truck tarps

It was at a food cart pod on 12th Avenue, and the material was this heavy, faded canvas with the original company logos still visible. He said he made it himself because he wanted something that could 'take a real beating' and the idea of using industrial fabric stuck with me. Has anyone else tried designing with repurposed work gear or heavy-duty materials like that?

Grateful for a little helper during a basement install

Was pulling cable in a cramped basement. Homeowner's kid followed me around. Kinda awkward but he was curious. He pointed out a loose floorboard. Hidden conduit was right behind it. Now I listen to everyone on site. Even kids can have good eyes.

Showerthought: My epic drink spill that killed the game vibe

I was hosting a game night and somehow managed to knock a full glass of juice onto our Settlers of Catan board. The resource cards were soaked, and the board warped almost instantly. My friends just looked at me like I'd set the place on fire. It hit me that one dumb move can turn a fun night into a cleanup job. Now I'm super strict about using lids or keeping drinks way off the table.
