Hot take: Los Poblanos is way overhyped for what you actually get
I went there last Saturday for a friend's birthday brunch and paid $18 for a plate of chilaquiles that had barely any salsa. The grounds are pretty, sure, but the food felt like an afterthought. I'd rather hit up Barelas on a random Tuesday and get real flavor for half the cost. Anyone else feel like it's more about the Instagram photo than the meal?

Yeah you're totally right, the food there is just fine at best. I got a $16 breakfast burrito that was mostly potato and maybe two bites of egg. You go to Barelas or El Modelo and get a monster burrito that actually tastes like something for half that. The lavender lattes are nice for a photo but that's about it.

Sixteen bucks for a breakfast burrito that's mostly filler is highway robbery. I almost spit out my coffee reading "two bites of egg" - what are they doing back there, counting out individual egg shreds? For that price you could get three of the smothered burritos from El Modelo and have change for a horchata. Places that charge that much for a potato bomb are banking on people thinking price equals quality. No way I'm going back after hearing that.

Build on that potato point - Barelas actually seasons their beans so the whole burrito isn't just filler pretending to be food.
