My neighbor said my recycling bin was a mess and honestly she had a point
She told me I was mixing glass with plastic and it was making the whole block's pickup harder, so now I separate everything. Anyone else get called out on their trash habits?

Honestly, I'd be annoyed if a neighbor policed my bin like that.

Yeah, and some places have different rules for colored glass versus clear glass! I had to look up my town's guide because I was getting it wrong too.

Wasn't there a whole article about how bad sorting messes up the whole recycling plant? I read that if one bin gets too contaminated with the wrong stuff, they sometimes just toss the whole load as regular trash. So your neighbor was actually doing you a favor, even if it felt a bit harsh. Getting it right means the stuff actually gets recycled. My town's rules are super specific too, like no plastic bags at all, not even bundled up. It's confusing but worth figuring out.
