Rant: The tamale lady vanished from my street corner last month

For like three years straight there was this older woman who'd set up a little cooler on the corner of Fourth and Mountain every Sunday morning. Best red chile pork tamales I ever had, two for five bucks. Then about a month ago she just disappeared, no warning or anything, and I haven't seen her since. Has anyone else in Abq had a favorite street vendor suddenly ghost the neighborhood like that?

Hold up, is this really worth a whole rant? People move. Vendors change spots. It's not like she was running a Michelin star operation from a cooler. Half the time those tamale ladies rotate based on what's in season or if their grandkids need watching. You'll probably see her pop up at a different corner in a month selling biscochitos or something.

Fourth and Mountain was my go-to spot too and I'm still not over it if I'm being honest. I once walked three blocks in the wrong direction hoping I just had the wrong corner, which says a lot about my navigation skills and my tamale priorities. Guess we're both out here wandering aimlessly wondering if we'll ever find that perfect two for five deal again.

Biscochitos are cookies, not tamales.
