TIL my governor rope splice was failing inspection because of a single comment about my serving technique.

Honestly makes you wonder if the inspector has ever actually worked a line themselves. Sometimes the book guys get hung up on one detail and miss the bigger picture of a solid splice. That extra tuck might be overkill but it's not automatically junk. Seen way more failures from sloppy serving or worn rope than from a perfect splice with one extra turn.

Can we talk about QR code check-ins at trade shows?

Yeah, putting it on the ticket is a good idea... but the real problem is people not having it ready. We started having staff walk the line with big signs saying "Have your QR code open now." It cut the wait in half.

I used to think a 20 minute process was fine for a Brazilian blowout until a client in Austin said her hair felt like straw after 3 weeks.

Ah, the classic "straw in three weeks" special.

Serious question, does anyone else see more cash-only signs lately?

Yeah, it's brutal... we got crushed by those hidden fees too. Ended up switching to a flat-rate processor that just charges per swipe, no monthly minimum. Saved us almost two hundred a month once all the junk fees were gone.

Our club read a classic and a modern take back to back

Wait you spent two whole meetings on the original book? That's a serious deep dive. I get why the retelling felt flat, those books often just copy the plot without the soul. The original always sparks a better talk for me, even if it's harder, because there's just more to pick apart.
