The Los Poblanos diner breakfast crowd changed completely since summer.

I go to the Los Poblanos diner on Central every Saturday morning for huevos rancheros. Used to be mostly old-timers and construction guys waiting on orders, but since around June I've seen way more families with strollers and folks taking photos of their plates. New apartment complex down the street brought in a different crowd, I guess. Has anyone else noticed the vibe shift, or is it just me?

Wait is that the spot with the red sign on Central and like 42nd? I go there too sometimes and yeah the change is real. Since they opened those lofts across the street, I swear half the parking lot is gone and the line moves slower because everyone is taking pictures of their food. The old guys who used to sit at the counter and argue about politics are mostly gone now, replaced by moms with toddlers and guys in expensive workout clothes. The food is still good but the whole feel is different, like you can't just sit and drink coffee for an hour anymore without someone waiting for your table.

Did those old guys actually ever get the coffee refills that fast or did they just get ignored by the staff?

The whole place changing like that must feel like losing a little piece of the neighborhood, honestly. Those old guys were probably the soul of that counter, just hanging out and making it feel lived in. Sorry the vibe got swapped for photo ops and quick turnarounds, that sucks.
