TIL my favorite taco spot changed hands last month
Went to El Patio on 4th Street for lunch Tuesday. My usual order came out wrong. Meat was dry salsa was watery. Asked the cashier and she said new owners took over 6 weeks ago. Anybody else notice places going downhill after a change like that?

Wait, six weeks ago and nobody said anything until you asked? That's wild, usually new owners slap a sign up or something. Honestly, that's the worst way to find out though, when you're standing there with a soggy burrito and realize everything's different. Ngl, once the new people take over they always cheap out on ingredients to save a buck and it shows fast. Tbh it sucks when a place you've been going to for years suddenly tastes like a knockoff version of itself. I feel your pain, especially when it's a spot you actually trusted with your lunch money.

Nah, not always. My buddy took over a taqueria and kept the same recipes, still good. But yeah, most times they cut corners and it's just sad.

Yeah, I get what you mean. @patriciareed is right about the cheap ingredients thing. I had a pizza place I loved, and the new owners swapped out the mozzarella for some rubbery white stuff. Just not the same. That taqueria your buddy kept alive is a rare exception. Most of the time it's a slow slide into mediocrity.
