Showerthought: I paid $40 for one of those 'as seen on TV' itch relief gadgets and it did nothing
Saw that ad with the little roller thing at 2am about 6 months ago and ordered it right there on my phone. Used it maybe 3 times and it just felt like a cold spoon, so it's been in the junk drawer ever since. Anyone else fall for a late night ad and regret it, and what was yours?
My mom bought a $60 "miracle" hair removal thing off a 3am infomercial back in 2019 and it just made her arm smell like burnt toast. These late night ads know we're tired and our guard is down, so they hit us right in the wallet. At least your cold spoon only cost you 40 bucks and a little pride.
That "burnt toast" detail is doing a lot of work here, because that smell is actually the thing that should scare people more than the wasted money. What nobody brings up is how these gadgets can scorch the top layer of skin and leave you with a dark patch that looks way worse than whatever hair you were trying to get rid of. @cooper.phoenix your mom got off easy with just a bad smell, some folks end up at a dermatologist paying ten times the price of the gadget to fix the damage. So yeah, the real cost of those 3am ads isn't the 60 bucks, it's the cleanup bill nobody warns you about.
