A client's pet inheritance demand showed me how odd legal docs can get
This lady wanted her parrot to get her house in the will, and she had papers proving it could 'talk' its way into ownership. I spent an hour explaining that animals can't own property (obviously), but we set up a trust instead. Now I joke that I'm an expert in pet estate planning, which is a skill I never expected to need. It makes contract reviews feel tame by comparison, honestly.

Feel for you, that stuff is becoming more common now. It really shows how legal work has to change with the times.

That hamster college fund story is amazing! A buddy of mine left his whole record collection to his cat in his will, like the cat is gonna spin vinyl. It makes total sense though, if that's your family. I guess lawyers are gonna be writing up more trusts for goldfish and stuff, which is kinda wild but also fine by me.

Seeing more pet inheritance cases pop up lately, tbh. People treat their animals like family so wills get wild real quick. Heard about a hamster with a whole college fund set up, no cap. Legal stuff has to keep up with how we live now, fr. Your parrot trust is just another chapter in the book of weird docs.
