Our office mixup in Dubuque got me sued 3 times in one month
Sent a client termination letter to the WRONG party because our paralegal grabbed the file from the wrong drawer, and now opposing counsel keeps referencing it in motions. Has anyone else had a clerical mistake snowball into actual litigation this bad?
Oh man, I feel this in my bones. Back at my last firm we sent a demand letter to the wrong insurance adjuster and the guy actually forwarded it to the other side's lawyer, who then attached it to a motion. Took months to untangle and the partner still brought it up at my review. The worst part is that it wasn't even a big mistake at first, just a file mixup, and then boom, it's exhibit A. Hang in there, these things do eventually fade but it's brutal while it's happening.
