Spent an afternoon at the MIT robotics lab demo and noticed something weird about the AI assistants
I visited the MIT robotics lab open house last Saturday and most of the demos were about AI that can see and move objects, not talk or write. But every chatbot and writing tool online feels like it's trying to be a person instead of a tool. Why do we keep building AI to mimic humans when the real innovation seems to be about doing practical tasks?

You ever notice how we interact with tools at a robotics lab versus how we talk to a chatbot? At the lab, you'd never ask a robot arm to be your friend, you just want it to grab the thing. But online, every AI writer is trying to act like a buddy instead of just giving you the information. I've found the best AI tools are the ones that are boring and practical, like a calculator or a wrench. Why can't we just have a tool that does the job without the personality act?
