Just realized my first alarm panel install took 6 hours but the same job today took under 90 minutes
I found an old photo from 3 years ago of my first Resideo panel with wires everywhere like a spaghetti monster, and now after doing about 40 of them I actually pre-label everything and use zip ties, has anyone else noticed how much faster you get once you stop second guessing every terminal?

Rush that first wire and you're committed to untangling it for hours.

Agree to disagree on this one. You rush the first wire and you learn real quick why patience matters. That painful untangling session sticks with you way better than someone telling you to take it slow. Plus if you never rush you never push your limits and see what you can actually handle under pressure. Sometimes you gotta fail fast to figure out your own rhythm. Like yeah you'll pay for it but you'll never make that mistake again.

The spaghetti monster is how everyone starts out, I think that's just part of learning. But let's be real, is a six hour install really that bad for a first time? It's not like the wires are going anywhere while you figure it out. Some people treat every wire like it's a ticking bomb and I just don't see it that way. You made mistakes, you learned, now you're faster. It's not some huge revelation, that's just how practice works.
