My recycling bin sat empty for 3 weeks because I missed the new pickup schedule

Found out the city switched to every other week collection back in October and my street's email notice went to spam, so now I've got a calendar alert for the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, has anyone else been caught off guard by the route changes?

All that tracking is just making it easier for them to change things without telling anyone. I mean, the email went to spam, sure, but they also could have put a flyer on the door like they used to, or even a sticker right on the bin itself. I live two streets over and our pickup always been Tuesday, but they hid the change on the city website under a tab nobody clicks. Missing a pickup is annoying, but the real problem is they treat a public service like a secret update nobody needs to know about until it's too late. You shouldn't have to build your whole calendar system around their mistakes.
